VANESSA J. FOX
postpatrum care coach
I grew up in Alberta Canada, never really dreaming of having children. After college and being married a couple years in my early 20s we welcomed identical twin girls! To our delight they were extremely mellow easy babies, who spoiled us with sleep and patience as we overcame all the challenges first time parents do. Almost 5 years later we welcomed a baby boy and thought we could easily handle one baby!
What a different experience. I struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression, something I did not the first time, coupled with a very discontent baby who never slept. It was the hardest 2 years of my life. I did not want to be a mom, and even asked to have the baby returned (as if that was an option) I was very proactive in my search for help after his birth, I knew something wasn’t quite right. But felt, even for someone who was an outspoken self-advocate like me, finding the right help was hard. It took weeks. I started to wonder how other moms did it? Was I so alone? I then began my journey with Postpartum Support International when my son turned 2, learning that I was not alone and how many new moms struggle.
I have been a peer support resource, support group leader, and all around new “mom” advocate for 8 years and aside from being a mom of almost 15 years myself, I have a certification in life coaching specializing in postpartum care which helps better focus my help to give my clients the best space to feel both heard, and productive in figuring out motherhood.
